Yes, that’s exactly what I am, for tomorrow, I’m boarding a plane for a 2-1/2 hour flight to Orlando to take 2-1/2-year-old twin boys on a Disney World “vacation.”
I can see it now:
“times two”
Let’s see, what other words could possibly describe my state-of-mind?
ape, barmy, bats in the belfry, batty, berserk, bonkers, cracked, crazed, cuckoo, daft, delirious, demented, deranged, dingy, dippy, erratic, flaky, flipped, flipped out, freaked out, fruity, idiotic, insane, kooky, lunatic, mad, mad as a March hare, mad as a hatter, maniacal, mental, moonstruck, nuts, nutty, nutty as fruitcake, of unsound mind, out of one’s mind, out of one’s tree, out to lunch, psycho, round the bend, schizo, screw loose, screwball, screwy, silly, touched, unbalanced, unglued, unhinged, unzipped, and wacky!
That just about does it…pick one! What in the world am I thinking?!?
( help me! )
Alex has really opened up in the last few days. Although he previously babbled and chattered incessantly, his message was incoherent. Of course, his twin brother, Adam, understood him perfectly, and the two would carry-on extensive conversations in, what was evidently, their super-secret twin language.
Anyway, the tubes in his ears seem to have opened the language floodgate because mom and dad are finally able to understand his speech. Among other things, he talks about his “truck,” the “ball,” and when he’s frustrated, he will utter the word…
( sigh )
Happy Birthday, Alex and Adam! It’s a wonder, after Adam’s misadventures, especially, that you made it to this day! It’s an even greater wonder that mom and dad made it! Whew! What a couple of years it’s been! Nana and Pa were visiting, which made the day even more special!
To celebrate, we made some iron-ons for the onesies they’d wear on their special day!
They seemed to like ’em…
And what birthday is complete without big helium-filled balloons and a personal cake, or rather a cake of cupcakes x 2!
Adam really enjoyed his birthday cake; Alex, uh, not so much…
But the best part of the birthday is definitely the presents. Especially, when the bag is almost as big as you are!
Happy Birthday, Boys!
Too cool. Fer rizzle!
whereas the boys get a chance to sport their new galoshes, or maybe you prefer boat shoes, dickersons, overshoes, rubbers, or rain boots…
Anyway, whatever you choose to call them, Alex and Adam were sportin’ ’em!
Adam tries ’em out in a convenient puddle. (hmmm…normally mommy yells at me when I do this!)
Next they take ’em for a spin…
Verdict: Although the boots make us look kinda silly, the puddle-splashing freedom they provide is well worth it!
This afternoon we went to the first annual pig roast the local VFW post. The food was great! Adam especially liked the corn on the cob (of which he ate two or three ears)!
Adam of the corn:
Alex, on the other hand, nibbled on corn bread, but gave up eating to search for daddy when he left for the dessert table…
The little boy lost:
The boys got much-needed haircuts today, and after returning home, just before dinner, they engaged in an exploration of telephone technology…

Alex holds hands with his brother while tooling around the mall in the stroller …
There’s a closeness between these two that’s amazing to watch, especially when they don’t know you’re watching!
